1. Sergeant David Bako is  a fake soldier – Army

The Nigerian Army has denied any links whith a man identified as Sergeant David Bako who claims to be an army deserter and also claims up to N80million was paid as ransom for the release of the Dapchi girls.

The Army described Bako’s statement as false, saying they have no record of him in their books.

2. Dino Melaye denies trying to flee Nigeria

Senator Dino Melaye, has denied fleeing Nigeria as a result of the political crisis in his state.

He made this denial in a statement yesterday while reacting to a online news medium which reported that he planned absconding from the country and threatened to implicate the senate President, Bukola Saraki and over 30 other senators if they do not rescue him.

3. Taraba state CAN chairman crushed to death

The Christian Association of Nigeria, Taraba State Chapter has announced the death of its state chairman, Rev. Ben Ubeh, in a motor accident along the Zing-Yola road while on his way to a Yola for an official engagement.

He was reportedly crushed by an on-rushing trailer when the travelling team stopped along the way to get some items.

4. Unilorin gets new registrar

The University of Ilorin governing council has approved Dr Folaranmi Olowoleni as the new registrar of the institution.

This was made known in a statement today by the Deputy Director, Corporate Affairs of the university, Mr Kunle Akogun.

5. FG recovers N145bn from 534 whistle-blower cases

The federal government has completed investigations into 534 cases and made recoveries totalling about N145 billion since the whistleblower policy made its debut in 2016.

The Director (Special Projects)/Secretary, Presidential Initiative on Continuous Audit (PICA), Dr. Mohammed Dikwa, provided the update at the weekend at a seminar organised by the Ministry of Finance for financial journalists.

6. Cease fire negotiations with Boko Haram made release of Dapchi girls possible – FG

The minister of information, Alh. Lai Mohammed has claimed the responsive nature of the Buhari administration to the kidnap of the Dapchi girls, led to their quick release.

He further stated that a cease fire agreement was negotiated with the terrorists to enable them release the girls back to their communities.

7. SERAP warns FG against granting amnesty to Boko Haram

The Socio-Economic Rights and Accountability Project (SERAP), has urged President Muhammadu Buhari to drop the proposed idea of granting amnesty to members of the Boko Haram sect.

The group maintained amnesty to Boko Haram would be counter-productive and denial of justice to victims of the Boko Haram activities.

8. Police backtracks on IG’s claims on Leah Sharibu’s release by Boko Haram

The Inspector-General of Police, Ibrahim Idris, has denied suggesting that the last Dapchi school girl, Leah Sharibu held by Boko Haram insurgents, would soon be freed by the insurgents.

The Inspector General of Police, in a statement by the force PRO, Jimoh Moshood, stated that he was misquoted and misunderstood by the media.

9. Anto and Khloe voted back into BB Naija house

Anto and Khloe have been successful in their efforts to return to the house in the ongoing big brother naija reality TV show.

The duo were re-admitted after emerging with the highest number of votes from fans.

10. Kwara United record win over Kano Pillars

Kwara United Football Club of Ilorin came from behind to return to winning ways on Sunday by beating Kano Pillars 2-1 in a Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) fixture.
