1. Dapchi school girls released by Boko Haram

A total of 106 girls and a boy were on Wednesday, released back to their community by their Boko Haram abductors.

The released girls have been sent for medical check ups.

2. National Assembly to pass 2018 budget in April

The National Assembly has announced that the 2018 budget will be passed on April 24.

This was contained in an announcement made by speaker of the House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara who said the decision was made by both chambers of the house.

3. House of rep begins process to override peace corps bill

The house of representatives have yesterday, initiated the process to override President Buhari’s decision on the bill establishing the peace corps of Nigeria and 9 other bills.

The bills have been re-introduced and slated for legislative action.

4. No ransom was paid for release of Dapchi girls – FG

The presidency, yesterday confirmed that no ransom was paid for the release of the kidnapped Dapchi school girls.

It said their release was secured through ‘back channel’ negotiations.

5. Dapchi school girls abduction was fake – PDP

The PDP has in its reaction to the release of Dapchi girls, described the process of kidnap and release as stage managed by the federal government and the APC.

It however, congratulated the parents of affected children on the safe return of their children.

6. INEC to resume recall process for Dino Melaye

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), has announced the resumption of the process to recall embattled senator, Dino Melaye from the National Assembly.

The Resident Electoral Commissioner in the state, Professor James Apam said following the appeal court ruling that INEC can commence the recall process, the commission has fixed the last Saturday of April as the verification date.

7. FG files suit to seize Ekweremadu’s undeclared assets

The federal government has filed a suit for the seizure of some properties belonging to Deputy Senate President, Ike Ekweremadu, which he failed to declare before the Code of Conduct Bureau.

The assets are located in Abuja, London, Dubai, and the United States.

8. Ikeja NBA plan fresh protests over Lagos land use charge

The Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), Ikeja Branch, has threatened to stage another round of protest to show their discontent and rejection of 50% reduction of the Land Use Charge by the Lagos State government.

The NBA Chairman, Mr Adeshina Ogunlana, disclosed this at a media briefing on Wednesday.

9. Kogi slams N5m bounty on killers in the state

A sum of 5m has been promised by Kogi State Government as reward to anyone who has vital information that can lead to the arrest of those involved in the killings of people in Ojuwo Ajamàgbe and Agbenema in Dekina and Omala local government areas of the state.

Mr. Kingsley Fanwo, Director General, Media and Publicity to the Governor explained in a statement.

10. 12 soldiers feared killed in Kaduna military base attack

12 soldiers, who had been on special operation in Birnin Gwari Local Government Area of Kaduna State have been reportedly killed in an attack on Tuesday.

This follows an attack by bandits who were out to avenge the killing of their leader, Buhari Tsoho, popularly called Buharin Daji who was reportedly killed in a shoot-out with security men in Zamfara State, about two weeks ago.
