1. IGP orders withdrawal of police from VIPs

The Inspector-General of Police ( I-G), Mr Ibrahim Idris, has ordered the immediate withdrawal of all policemen attached to Very Important Personalities (VIPs), political and public office holders in the country.

Idris said the directive became necessary due to the current security challenges in the country.

2. Osinbajo admits challenges in dealing with corruption

The Vice President of Nigeria Yemi Osinbajo has acknowledge that corruption has not been completely dealt with in the President Muhammadu Buhari-led administration as the cankerworm has become systematic in the country.

He further stated that when the government was committed in fighting corruption.

3. Nigerian Airforce jet crashes in Kaduna

A Nigerian Air Force plane has crash-landed in Kaduna.

According to the air force spokesperson, Olatokunbo Adesanya, the plane was flown by a student pilot and no human casualty was involved.

4. Maryam Sanda’s case adjourned till April 19 and 20

The trial of Maryam Sanda for alleged killing of her husband, has been adjourned till April 2018.

Others accused alongside Mrs. Sanda are her mother, Maimuna Aliyu, her brother Aliyu Sanda, and her house help, Sadiya Aminu.

5. NSCDC deploys 50 motor bikes in Taraba to fight insurgency

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corp (NSCDC), has deployed 50 motorcycles to its Taraba Command to be used for patrol in troubled areas of the state.

He said the motorcycles would be used by its operatives in combating insecurity in areas such as Takum, Mambilla and Lau.

6. Toyin Saraki appointed as advisor to World Health Organization

Mrs Toyin Saraki, wife of Senate President Bukola Saraki, has been appointed as special advisor to the Independent Advisory Group (IAG) of WHO AFRO, the World Health Organization’s presence in Africa.

7. We have arrested thugs working for Melaye –  Police

The police said they have arrested two suspected political thugs working for Senator Dino Melaye and recovered two AK 47 rifles, five pump-action guns and a heap of charms from them.

This was disclosed in a statement by the force PRO, Jimoh Moshood.

8. Suspected herdsmen kill traditional ruler, wife, others in Kogi

10 individuals, including a traditional ruler, Onu Okemu of Agbenema, Musa Edigbo, and his wife, were killed yesterday afternoon in Kogi state by suspected herdsmen.

Some community members said several houses were also burnt down in the raid.

9. Presidency urges national assembly to lift ban on confirmation of Buhari’s nominees

The Presidency on Monday called on the Senate to its lift ban on confirmation of nominees of President Muhammadu Buhari.

Presidential Adviser on National Assembly, Senator Ita Enang said this during the screening of two nominees for Deputy Governors of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) and others.

10. NPFL: Kano pillars forced to a draw against Tornadoes

Kano Pillars Football Club on Monday drew 1-1 draw with Niger Tornadoes in a rescheduled week 12 match of the 2017/2018 Nigeria Professional Football League in Kano.

The match was played at the Sani Abacha Stadium and had a large number of spectators in attendance but Pillars couldn’t capitalize on their home advantage.
