Buhari approves recruitment of 6,000 policemen

Ibrahim Idris, the Inspector-General of Police

The Nigerian Police has refuted reports from officials in the presidency that President Muhammadu Buhari queried the Inspector General of police, Ibrahim Idris over his alleged disobedience to a presidential directive ordering him to relocate to Benue state after the New year’s day massacre by Fulani Herdsmen in the state. The audacious move is very surprising bearing in mind that last week. during his condolence visit to Benue state, the president promised to question the IG after learning that the Police chief spent only a day before moving to Nassarawa state.

According to report gartherd from the office of the Police force public relations officer, Jimoh Moshood  “The IGP was not queried,” adding:“There is very clear issue on that, that he was not queried by the President.”

Anybody that said the IGP was queried by the president should bring the copy of the query, let us display it,” Moshood said.

He argued that those speculating that the IGP had been queried by the president were angling to cause disharmony and disaffection, with the intension to distort facts.
