1. President Buhari meets national assembly leaders
President Muhammadu Buhari, yesterday, received the leadership of the National Assembly at the state house in Abuja.
Senate President, Bukola Saraki, and Speaker of the house of representatives, Yakubu Dogara were both present at the meeting.
2. Victims of herdsmen killings buried in Benue state
24 victims of herdsmen attacks in Benue state, were yesterday given a mass burial by the state government.
A church service was held for the victims before the burial.
3. Judge withdraws from Dasuki case
Justice Gabriel Kolawole of the Federal High Court, Abuja has berated the Economic and Financial crimes Commission (EFCC) over display of gross misconduct in the prosecution of an alleged N3.1B corruption case against Former National Security Adviser, Col Sambo Dasuki.
The Judge who accused the EFCC of frustrating proceedings in the trial and attempting to take over control of court withdrew from the EFCC case and returned its file to the Chief Judge of the Court, Justice Abdul Adamu Kafarati for re-assignment to another court.
4. Herdsmen kill 25 in fresh attacks in Kogi state
At least 25 people are feared dead in an attack by persons suspected to be Fulani herdsmen in three communities in Kogi State.
Affected communities includes Oganienugwu and Ikende communities in Dekina Local Government Area; as well as Abejukolo in Omala LGA, all in the Eastern Senatorial district of the state.
5. Osinbajo’s Daughter, Damilola, Gets Engaged In Aso Rock
The Old Banquet Hall of the Presidential Villa was filled to capacity as the Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo held a traditional engagement of his daughter, Damilola to her fiance, Oluseun, on Thursday.
Dignitaries from the business world, academic world and political figures graced the elegant ceremony.
6. Nigeria gets $300m from African Development Bank to tackle unemployment
The Federal Government today 15 March disclosed the African Development Bank has approved a $300m loan to help alleviate unemployment problems, provide food and security, rural income generation and improved livelihood for youths in both urban and rural areas in the country.
This was declared by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Boss Mustapha in Abuja at a round-table on tackling youth unemployment in Nigeria.
7. Lagos state reduces land use charge fees
The Lagos State Government has reduced its Land Use Charge. According to the state government, commercial fee charge is reduced by 50 percent, while owner occupier third-party fee is reduced by 25 percent and the owner-occupier fee charge is reduced by 15 percent.
This was made known after the executive council meeting which was held today at the State House.
8. Police warns of planned bomb attack in Maiduguri
The Borno police command on Thursday have discovered plans by Boko Haram insurgents to carry out bomb attacks in Maiduguri metropolis.
The command warned residents to be vigilant and report any suspicious persons or objects to security agencies.
9. FG not doing enough about herdsmen attacks – Soyinka
Nobel Laureate, Prof. Wole Soyinka, on Thursday condemned the spate of killings and kidnappings in several parts of the country.
Soyinka said the government’s response to the security challenges was poor, especially those associated with herdsmen.
10. Arsenal defeat AC Milan to qualify for the Europa league quarter finals
Arsenal defeated AC Milan by 3 goals to 1 to qualify for the quarter finals of the Europa league 5-1 on aggregate.
Two goals from Danny Welbeck and another from Granit Xhaka ensured victory for the Gunners.
