1. President Buhari refuses to sign electoral act amendment

President Muhammadu Buhari, yesterday withheld assent to electoral amendment act put before him by the National Assembly.

The bill is seeking to change the order of elections during the 2019 general elections.

2. President Trump sacks Tillerson as US secretary of state

President Donald Trump has sacked Rex Tillerson as the United States secretary of state.

This comes few hours after Tillerson left Nigeria after his tour of some African countries.

3. Nigeria accounts for 70% of illegal small arms in West Africa

A 20-page report titled ‘CrimeJust: Fact Sheet Nigeria’ published by Civil Society Legislative Advocacy Centre (CISLAC) has noted that Nigeria accounts for about 70% of the illegal small arms present in West Africa.

4. President Buhari sacks Boroh as amnesty coordinator, calls for his probe

Brig. General Paul Boroh has been dismissed as the Coordinator of the Presidential Amnesty Programme for former Niger Delta militants.

President Muhammadu Buhari have subsequently appointed  Prof. Charles Dokubo as the new coordinator.

5. IG Ibrahim Idris summoned over breach of presidential order on Benue

For disobeying the presidential order to relocate to Benue State following the killings that are happening in the state, the presidency has summoned the Inspector-General of Police, Alhaji Ibrahim Idris.

The IG left without speaking to anybody after about 30 minutes of the private meeting with the president.

6. President Buhari Should Arrest Obasanjo To Prove His Anti-Corruption Move- Uzor Kalu

Former governor of Abia state, Governor Orji Uzor Kalu, has challenged President Muhammadu Buhari to arrest and prosecute former President Olusegun Obasanjo if he was to prove his seriousness on his move against corruption.

Kulu made this declaration while speaking at the quarterly public lecture series of National Institute for Cultural Orientation (NICO) in Abuja.

7. Evans sues Police for N1bn over sealed property in Lagos

Alleged kidnap kingpin, Chukwudumeme Onwuamadike, a.k.a Evans, has filed a fresh suit at a Federal High Court in Lagos, seeking N1 billion damages against the Police over alleged unlawful sealing of his property in Lagos.

The suit was filed by his lawyer, Olukoya Ogungbeje.

8. PDP denies nominating Dakwambo as its presidential candidate

The national chairman of People’s Democratic Party, Uche Secondus, has denied claims that Gombe state Governor, Ibrahim Dakwanbo was nominated as party’s presidential candidate at a political meeting in Gombe.

Secondus disclosed this while addressing the press in Dutse, the Jigawa State capital after a rally of the party.

9. House of Reps lift suspension placed on Abdulmumin Jibrin

The House of Representatives has lifted the suspension placed on the former Chairman, House Committee on Appropriation, Rep. Abdulmumin Jibrin (Kano-APC).

This followed a letter of apology signed by Jibrin which was read by the Speaker of the House, Mr Yakubu Dogara.

10. Manchester United crash out of champions league

Sevilla shocked Manchester United with a 2- 1 defeat in their UEFA Champions League round of 16 second leg clash after substitute Wissam Yedder scored at Old Traffford on Tuesday.

Though Romelu Lukaku pulled a goal back, it wasn’t enough to save United on the night as they crashed out of the Champions league.
