Cardinal Onaiyekan Foundation For Peace in partnership with Mary Starseed Development Global Foundation have award no less than 60 pupils in FCT with scholarship

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the pupils and students, who were also presented with educational materials and clothes, were selected from seven schools — five primary and two junior secondary schools.

Mrs Amaka Nwokocha, the Chief Executive Officer, Mary Starseed started that the Scholarship Awards was given to desiring Student who excelled in their academics. she pointed out that this was her foundation’s was of encouraging student to pay attention to their studies.

Naija News understands that one of areas of focus of the foundation is education and wealth creation.

“Our organisation focuses on community health and nutrition; education and skill training as well as water sanitation and hygiene (WASH) and wealth creation.‎

“We have our people who go to schools to scout for these indigent children who are excelling in their academics”

Mrs Nwokocha added that the parents of the beneficiaries do not have the resources to give the needed education to the student.

‎‎NAN reports that Mrs Mariya Sarki, Gender and Women Officer, Country Associate Networks (CANET), an NGO, gave a lecture on `Violence Against Children’ to students who participated in the training.

Sarki noted that 60 per cent of Nigerian Children experienced emotional or , physical violence or sexual abuse.

“Six out of 10 children will experience any form of violence before they are 18 years and out of this six, four girls will experience sexual violence, including rape.

“Boys also experience sexual violence; so, it can be anybody. I, therefore, advise you students to be wise.

“Please do not talk to strangers; do not enter free rides, avoid lonely paths, do not accept gifts from uncles who say they want to touch you.
