70 political youth groups in Kwara State have formed an alliance with the aim of unseat the former Governor of Kwara State and the Senate President, Dr. Bukola Saraki, due to alleged bad governance and misrule. This is according to Abdulsalam Ibrahim, the Coordinator of Kwara Rescue Alliance.

In an interview with Punch Correspondent in Ilorin, the state capital, on Friday, Ibrahim accused the Governor Abdulfatah Ahmed-led government of ineptitude and lack of commitment to the welfare of the residents of the state. he also lamented the fact that the people of the state have not in anyway enjoyed the dividend of democracy.

Ibrahim stated that the coalition of about 70 youth groups in the state is to come up with a vibrant and formidable opposition against the ruling party in the state during the 2019 general election.

“70 youth political groups formed an alliance to unseat Saraki because the state has lost direction completely and we have no hope in the possibility of a change especially by the ruling government. We feel that even the opposition that is currently in the state needs some guidance.

“The ruling government is totally out of the question and the opposition is not getting it right as well. So we want to bring the opposition together and we will ensure that the opposition goes into the elections as a joint force and with a credible alternative. We are sure we are going to win the elections.” he said.

However, the spokesperson for the governor, Dr. Muyideen Akorede, replied that the state in the last 15 years has done fairly well.

“I do not understand the basis for the assessment because Kwara has witnessed significant development in the last 15 years,” he added.

Meanwhile, Naija News reported not too long ago that Saraki gave reasons why he was not at the APC caucus meetings.
