INEC Discover Names Of 299 Foreigners In Its Voter Register

Ahead of the 2019 general elections in the country, the Independent National Electoral Commission, (INEC), has discovered and removed from the voter register, the names of 299 foreigners.

This information as obtained by Naija News, was disclosed by the chairman of the commission, Prof. Mahmood Yakubu during the 2018 first Quarterly Consultative Meeting with security agencies under the auspices of the Inter-Agency Consultative Committee on Election Security (ICCES) at the commission’s head quarters in Abuja.

According to information released by the nation’s electoral umpire, INEC chairman, Prof. Mahmood Yakubu, announced that “the Commission has been able to remove from the Voter Register the names of 299 aliens who are registered on the false pretence that they were Nigerians. This was done on the basis of information received from Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS)”

Recall that Naija News in an earlier report, also revealed that the Independent National Electoral Commission, (INEC) has set general election dates for the next 36 years.
