The Borno state command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), on Friday said 500 of its officers have been deployed to beef up security across public schools in the state.

The State Commandant of the corps, Mr Ibrahim Abdullahi, disclosed this in an interview granted to NAN in Maiduguri.

Naija News learnt that the personnel were deployed to seven of the 22 liberated local government areas of the state in line with the directives of the corps’ Commandant-General, Mr Abdullahi Gana, who instructed that schools in the North-East be provided with adequate security.

According to him, the command was working in collaboration with other security agencies to provide security for teachers and students as well as ensure protection of lives and property in the state.

He said, “following the incident of abduction of school girls in Yobe, the Command Headquarters directed immediate deployment of personnel to schools in the state.

“This include special armed, counter terrorism and anti-riot quad, bomb detection and disposal unit, intelligence, detective as well as rescue and medical teams.”
