1. Dapchi girls: Police IG and NSCDC Commandant ordered to relocate to North East

The Honourable Minister of Interior, Lt General (Rtd) Abdulrahman Bello Dambazau has directed the Inspector General of Police, IGP Ibrahim Idris and the Commandant of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps Abdullahi Mohammad Gana to relocate to the northeast.

They are expected to liaise with the theater commander of operation Lafiya Dole, the Governors of Yobe, Borno and Adamawa states on the security situation in the region.

2. 2019 elections: 108 political associations apply to INEC for registration as political parties

The Independent National Electoral Commission INEC, has revealed that the commission received 108 applications from political groups and association in one week.

Of these number, 66 of the applications did not meet the initial requirements, while 33 passed and had proceeded to the next stage.

3. INEC announces general election dates for next 36 years

Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission INEC, Prof. Mamood Yakubu has announced the dates for general elections in the country for the next 36 years.

This was made known by the Chairman of the Commission during a consultative meeting with the leaders of political parties in Abuja, the nation’s capital.

4. IGP wants cattle ranches to be established before Governors implement anti-grazing law

The Inspector-General of Police, Alhaji Ibrahim Idris, on Wednesday, advised state governors to establish cattle ranches before enacting anti-grazing laws, to avert conflict between farmers and herdsmen.

The IGP gave the advice at the Northern States Stakeholders’ Security Summit which held in Kaduna.

5. Dieziani permanently forfeits penthouses to the federal government

Justice Mojisola Olatoregun of the Federal High Court based in Lagos has ordered the final forfeiture of the Pent houses linked to the former Minister of Petroleum, Mrs. Diezani Alison-Madueke to the federal government pending conclusion of investigations.

The houses were identified as Penthouse 21, Building 5, Block C, 11 floor, Bella Vista, Banana Island, Ikoyi and Penthouse 22, Block B (Admiralty Estate) also in Ikoyi.

6. IPOB accuses federal government of spreading lies on Nnamdi Kanu’s whereabouts

The Indigenous People Of Biafra (IPOB) has rubbished a recent report in which security sources were quoted as saying leader of the group, Nnamdi Kanu and his wife, Uchechi Kanu, were sighted in Ghana.

IPOB, in a statement by its Media and Publicity Secretary, Emma Powerful, said the report was nothing but false news.

7. President Buhari laments dwindling fortunes of Lake Chad

President Muhammadu Buhari has while reiterating its economic importance, lamented that the Lake Chad area which used to be a hub of economic activities is now only a shadow of itself .

The president made the call during his welcome address at the high level meeting of the International Conference on Lake Chad in Abuja on Wednesday where he called for concerted efforts aimed at turning the tide.

8. APC denies endorsing Buhari for second term

The All Progressives Congress, APC, has clarified that the vote of confidence passed on President Muhammadu Buhari does not equate to endorsing him for a second term.

The National Executive Committee of the party, at its meeting in Abuja, passed a vote of confidence on Buhari and the John Odigie – Oyegun- led National Working Committee, NWC.

9. MASSOB calls for Biafra as part of restructuring

The Movement for the Actualization of the Sovereign State of Biafra (MASSOB) led by Uchenna Madu, yesterday denied reports that some pro-Biafra groups have made a U-turn to support restructuring instead of Biafra.

The group maintained they are still strongly focused on the actualization of Biafra.

10. Neymar set to return to Brazil for surgery

Paris Saint-Germain have confirmed star attacker Neymar is set to undergo surgery in his home country of Brazil this week after being diagnosed with a broken foot.

Neymar suffered the injury in PSG’s 3-0 Ligue 1 win over Marseille on February 25.
