Bollywood superstar Sridevi Kapoor, who died in Dubai at the weekend aged 54, drowned in her hotel bathtub after passing out.
The Dubai police, according to Nigeria News, revealed on Monday in a tweet, citing a post-mortem that “The death of Indian actress Sridevi occurred due to drowning in her hotel apartment’s bathtub following loss of consciousness.”
Naija News gathered that reports had initially cited a heart attack as the cause of her death.
Sridevi, a renowned actress in India died on Saturday night in Dubai, where she had been attending her nephew’s wedding.
It was learnt that her body was flown back to Mumbai on Monday on a chartered flight.
Sridevi appeared in almost 300 movies and was awarded the Padma Shri, India’s fourth highest civilian award, for her remarkable contribution to Bollywood.
