Brigadier General Jude Chukwu, has been appointed to replace Brig. Gen Sani Usman, as the spokesman of the Nigerian Army.

Usman is currently attending a senior executive course at the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS), Kuru, Jos, The Cable reports.

Chukwu is among the 92 colonels promoted to the rank of brigadier-general in November.

A formal handover ceremony has reportedly been slated for Monday.

Meanwhile, the Nigerian Army has denied recent insinuations in certain quarters which alleged its troops currently involved in the operation Lafiya Dole in the north eastern part of the country, were ordered to suspend operations in order to allow the Boko Haram leader, Abubakar Shekau to escape from the Sambisa forest.

The army last week, announced a N3m reward for credible information that leads to the arrest of Abubakar Shekau, leader of the Boko Haram insurgents who it claimed is on the run, disguised as a woman.
