Barely twenty-four hours after the senate ordered its committee on Ethics, Privileges and Public Petitions to investigate Senator Ovie Omo-Agege and nine other senators over statements criticising the adoption of a conference report on the reordering of election sequence, the Delta State lawmaker has apologised to the Senate leadership and his colleagues.

Omo-Agege had last week, following the adoption of the report on the re-ordering of the 2019 election sequence, alleged the amendment of the electoral act is targeted at President Muhammadu Buhari.

However, speaking during today’s plenary, the Delta state senator noted his comment may have offended his colleagues and went ahead to apologize for his comment.

Deputy Senate President Ike Ekweremadu, who presided over plenary, however advised Senator Omo-Agege to resolve the issue with the Ethics committee as there is not much he could do despite the apology.

Omo-Agege was reportedly absent during plenary on Tuesday when the Senate referred the issue raised by Senator Dino Melaye to its ethics committee for investigation.

The Senator Samuel Anyanwu-led ethics committee is expected to submit its report in two weeks.
