The Federal High Court in Abuja has ordered the sureties of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) leader, Nnamdi Kanu to produce him in court on March 28 or reveal his whereabouts.

Justice Binta Nyako gave the order on Tuesday when he granted an application to adjourn the case by the prosecuting counsel, Shuaibu Labaran.

Kanu, who is facing a trial for alleged treason, was granted bail on April 25, 2017 with the Chairman, South-east Senate caucus, Enyinnaya Abaribe; a Jewish High Chief Priest, Immanuu-El Shalom, and a Chartered Accountant, Tochukwu Uchendu signing his bail bond.

Kanu has ceased to appear in court, with his lawyer, Ifeanyi Ejiofor, claiming he (Kanu) had been missing since some soldiers invaded his home in September last year.

Labaran told the court to separate Kanu’s charges from that of other three defendeants, Chidiebere Onwudiwe, Benjamin Madubugwu, David Nwawuisi due to his (Kanu) absence.

“In view of the court granting the application to severe the charge of the first defendant from the others, we shall be asking for a short adjournment to enable us tidy our processes and for the records of the court to be neater,” he said.

Mrs. Nyako granted the application and directed the prosecution to ensure that the charges were amended and served on the defendants before the next trial date.

She said: “I hereby separate the trial of the first defendant from the rest of the defendants.”

The judge therefore, adjourned that of the other defendants until March 20.
