1. Senators split as Senate adopts re-ordering of election time table

The report of the conference committee on the amendment of the Independent National Electoral Commission, (INEC) act has been adopted by members of the Senate on Wednesday, February 14, 2018.

Some Senators have however expressed dissatisfaction with the adoption, claiming the re-ordering is targeted at President Buhari.

2. APC loosing goodwill, Tinubu tells party leaders

National leader of the All Progessives Congress, Chief Bola Tinubu has expressed concerns that the party has not been able to meet the expectation of Nigerians since it won election in 2015.

He stated this during a meeting he held with party leaders at the party secretariat in Abuja.

3. Security operatives kill top member of Don Waney’s gang in Delta

Operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS) in Delta State on Wednesday shot dead a notorious cultist and kidnap kingpin, Augustine Agulegbu also known as Nana.

Agulegbu was the sixth-in-command to the slain Don Waney’s killer squad.

4. Jacob Zuma resigns as South Africa’s president

South Africa’s Jacob Zuma has caved in to pressure and resigned as South Africa’s president.

Zuma had been at logger heads with the ruling ANC ahead of the 2019 elections in the country, with the party calling for Zuma’s resignation.

5. Nigeria’s foreign reserves hit $42.8 billion

Nigeria’s external reserves attained a new high of $42.8 billion on Tuesday with confidence returning to the economy as the continuing intervention of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) draws various exchange rates to convergence point.

The acting Director, Corporate Communications, CBN, Mr. Isaac Okorafor, declared this on Wednesday in Abuja at a press briefing by the Rice Farmers Association of Nigeria (RIFAN) vis-à-vis their collaboration with the CBN’s Anchor Borrowers’ Programme (ABP).

6. Dangote assures of timely completion of Apapa road

President of Dangote Group, Aliko Dangote has assured that the Apapa Port Wharf concrete road currently under construction by his company, would be delivered on schedule to save the people and businesses the hassles of the traffic gridlock being experienced now.

He gave the assurance yesterday when he visited the construction area to assess the extent of work done.

7. Ronaldo hits 100 Champions league goals for Real Madrid

Portuguese super star, Christiano Ronaldo, has become the first player to reach 100 champions league goals for a single club.

He achieved the feat as Madrid came from a goal down to defeat PSG in their last 16 clash at Santiago.
