Several other students have reportedly sustained various degrees of injuries.

Confirming the gruesome attack, the public relations officer of the Nasarawa State Police Command, DSP Kennedy Idirisu said two students were killed in the ambush, Daily Sun reported.

Idrisu said the incident was reported by the university’s registrar, who told Nasarawa police that gunmen had invaded the students’ village at Mararaba-Akunza, opposite the campus gate, around 10:30pm Tuesday night, shooting sporadically.

The PPRO added that upon arrival at the scene, the police discovered that two students had been shot by the gunmen, who also robbed others of their possessions before escaping.

One of the deceased students died on the spot, but the other later died at the hospital, with both bodies already deposited at the Dalhatu Araf Specialist Hospital, Lafia.
