Police Arraign Six Men For Raping 14-Yr-Old

Police arraigned six men on Tuesday before a Katsina Senior Magistrate Court for allegedly raping a 14-year-old girl on January 12, 2o18.

The defendants identified as Sani Awwalu, Ibrahim Sulaiman, Salahudeen Lawal, Shamsu Shaaibu, Yusuf Rabiu, Abubakar Khalid and one Auta are residents of Tundun Wada area in Funtua.

They were facing charges of abduction and rape.

Naija News gathered that only Awwalu was arraigned as other accused persons were reportedly at large.

The police prosecutor, Inspector Sani Ado, told court that the victim was tricked into entering Awwalu’s room where the six men allegedly raped her several times.

Afterwards, the victim’s father, Mallam Yusuf Umar, reported the matter at the Central Police Station, Funtua.

He said the offence contravened sections 273 and 283 of the Penal Code.

Ado told the court that investigation was still underway and asked for an adjournment which was granted.

Hajiya Fadile Dikko, who presided over the court, therefore, adjourned the case till April 4 for further hearing.

She also directed that Awwalu should be remanded in the prison custody.
