Olisa Metuh Appears In Court On Stretcher
Former National Publicity Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Olisa Metuh, facing trials for alleged money laundering, has appeared in court on a stretcher.
Metuh was wheeled to court today, Monday, following the threat by Justice Okon Abang to revoke his bail if he fails to appear in court today.
It would be recalled that his lawyer, Emeka Etiaba had told the court in January that his client was on admission at the Nnamdi Azikiwe University Teaching Hospital for an undisclosed ailment.
Lead counsel in the case, Dr Onyechi Ikpeazu prayed the court to give Metuh a one-month adjournment to make him fit to continue with his trial.
Therefore, Justice Abang, in his ruling, said he has seen that Metuh cannot continue with the trial in his condition.
On that note, the judge held that the court needs to be fair and humane when occasion demands and adjourned the case till March 14, 15 and 16.
Consequently, Metuh was wheeled out of the courtroom and placed in an ambulance which conveyed him to the court.
