Gabriel Okechukwu’s first half solitary strike was enough for Nigeria to dispatch Sudan and qualify for the finals of the on-going CHAN tournament currently holding in Morocco.

The Super Eagles lost captain and goalkeeper, Ikechukwu Ezenwa early in the game after clashing with Mohamed Hashim and had to replace him with second choice goalkeeper, Dele Ajiboye.

This did however not scuttle the Eagles’ chances as Ajiboye was very much able to rise to the occasion, making several stunning saves to deny the Sudanese several clear cut chances on goal.

Both teams finished the game with ten players each as both got red cards.

First, it was Nigeria’s Ifeanyi Ifeanyi who got a second yellow card and was given his marching orders in the 57th minute while Sudan had Bakri Makki sent off in the closing stages of the game after tackling Dayo Ojo who was racing clear on goal.
