Insecurity: Creating State Police Will Be A Mistake – Ex-IGP Idris

The Senate has directed the Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Mr. Ibrahim Idris, to appear before its committees on Police Affairs and National Intelligence.

The summon is sequel to Idris’ failure to implement a resolution of the Senate.

Senate President Bukola Saraki made the pronouncement today, Wednesday.

Saraki mandated the IGP to appear before the joint committee, on Thursday, noting that the issue would not be swept under the carpet.

The Red Chamber summoned the Police boss to give reasons for failing to implement a resolution that mandated him to arrest perpetrators of the massacre in Benue State.

Naija News recalls that the Upper House had on 16th January, 2018 ordered the IGP to arrest culprits of the Benue attacks, within two weeks.

However, following the expiration of the 14-day ultimatum, on Tuesday,30th January, 2018, the police is yet to arrest any individual in connection to the said attacks.
