A clergy man, Pastor John Kayode of Disciples Church in Ilorin, has urged the politicians to desist from do-or-die politics as 2019 election is fast approaching.

Kayode, who gave the warning in Ilorin, the Kwara State capital on Wednesday while speaking with newsmen, cautioned the politicians against assassinating and kidnapping other aspirants, rather, they should work harmoniously to make the country move forward.

He said, “It is time for politicians to embrace defeat and cooperate with the emerging candidate to move the country forward.

“There is no reward in sending assassination team to go after your opponent’s life. This must stop in 2019 as we want to witness a peaceful free and fair election in Nigeria.

“Do-or-die politics will not take us anywhere. We need to emulate Western world where one aspirant congratulates the other after defeat.

“Any politician that continues to kill opposition to attain position is only inviting God’s wrath and will surely regret it with time.”

The clergyman, therefore, advised party leaders to sensitize and orientate the political aspirants on the need to shun violence.
