1. EFCC arrests ex-SGF, Babachir Lawal

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, has on Wednesday, arrested the former Secretary to Government of the Federation, Babachir Lawal.

Lawal was recently sacked after he was indicted by a presidential panel that investigated misuse of funds meant for people displaced by Boko Haram and had earlier been indicted by the Senate.

2. FG replies Obasanjo’s letter

The minister of information and culture, Alh. Lai Mohammed, has in response to Obasanjo’s letter, said the former president was unaware of President Buhari’s achievements due to his busy schedule.

He said this while briefing newsmen at the end of the weekly FEC meeting on Wednesday.

3. Fayose hosts Atiku Abubakar in Ekiti state

Former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar, on Wednesday visited the Ekiti state governor, Ayodele Fayose as part of efforts targeted at actualizing his presidential ambition.

Commenting on Obasanjo’s letter, Atiku stated the letter confirmed APC has failed Nigerians.

4. Minister brings in Buhari’s campaign materials to FEC meeting

Campaign materials, including fez caps for Buhari/Osinabjo’s second term in office, were distributed yesterday by the Minister of Communications, Adebayo Shittu, to his colleagues during the weekly federal executive council meeting.

The distribution was however reportedly put on hold by a senior presidency official who also happens to be a lawyer as it is said to be in violation of electoral laws and guidelines.

5. INEC denies ending continuous voters’ registration exercise

The Independent National Electoral Commission INEC has dismissed speculation that its Continuous Voter Registration CVR exercise would end this month.

The Commission also encourages all eligible Nigerians to register at offices in all local government headquarters and other officially designated areas across the country between 9am and 3pm, Monday to Friday, excluding public holidays.

6. Oil tank fire causes panic in Lagos state

An oil tank farm owned by Stallionaire Oil at Ijegun, Lagos, was yesterday, Wednesday, razed by a wild fire.

The fire caused panic among residents, but no casualty was reported in the incident.

7. Arsenal to face Man.City in Carabao cup final

Arsenal came from a goal down to defeat Chelsea 2-1 in the second semi-final game of the Carabao cup played at the Emirates stadium on Wednesday.

The win sets them up for a final clash with Manchester City who had earlier defeated Bristol City to make it into the finals.
