FG Allocates N5.3b on National Grazing Reserve Development
The Federal Government has allocated N5.3 billion on national grazing reserve development in the 2018 budget.
The allocation is currently being considered by the National Assembly.
The budgetary allocation is sequel to the herdsmen killings and the consequent clashes with farmers, which different parts of the country are being faced with.
Several states like Benue, Taraba, Ekiti and recently Ondo states have been besieged by the menace which has claimed hundreds of lives, leaving several other citizens displaced.
Following the attacks, the FG had initially proposed the introduction of cattle colonies for the herdsmen in states across the nation.
The policy has been greeted by various reactions, as some states like Kogi have accepted the policy with several others out rightly rejecting it.
19 northern states and Federal Capital Territory (FCT) chapter of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) have cried out condemning the policy.
CAN opined that if government embarks on the said plan, it indicates that the FG knows the attackers in Benue and other parts of the country.
