1. Buhari to consider health status before declaring second term ambition

Mr. Femi Adesina, special adviser to President Muhammadu Buhari on media and publicity, has stated Buhari will consider his state of health before taking the decision on whether to seek re-election in 2019 or not.

2. FG promises not to forcefully take land for cattle colonies

The Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Chief Audu Ogbeh, has maintained that the federal government will not forcibly take land from states to kick off cattle colonies.

According to him, the intention behind the cattle colonies was to provide safe havens for cattle to graze in peace, to be under controlled environment, prevent conflicts between farmers and herdsmen and not to give people’s land to Fulanis.

3. Suspected herdsmen burn Olu Falae’s farm in Ondo state

An oil palm plantation, located along Igbatoro Road in Akure, Ondo state belonging to a former secretary to the federal government, Olu Falae was on Sunday burned down by suspected herdsmen.

The Police however say they are yet to confirm if the act was actually carried out by herdsmen.

4.  Long fuel queues return to Lagos state

Long queues have resurfaced in many filling stations in Lagos and Ogun states after a brief relief from the severe scarcity of the product that plagued the country from December 2017.

Many of the stations who had the commodity sold between N160 and N180 and in some cases, petrol attendants charged at least N200 extra from customers before selling to them.

5. Delta government to negotiate with Niger Delta Avengers over fresh threats

The Delta State Government has expressed readiness to dialogue with militia group, Niger Delta Avengers (NDA), in the light of its reported threats to resume hostilities against oil and gas installations in the Niger Delta region.

The state Deputy Governor, Mr. Kingsley Burutu Otuaro, gave the hint while appealing to the NDA to sheathe their sword and embrace the option of dialogue to resolve whatever their grievances might be.

6. 7.5 million Nigerians without a job since 2016

A new report by the National Bureau of Statistics has revealed that about 7.5 million Nigerians were doing nothing between January 2016 and December 30, 2017.

This is according to the “Labour Force Statistics Vol. 2: Employment by Sector Report,” released by the bureau on Sunday in Abuja.

7. Why I won’t support Buhari’s second term ambition –  Na’Abba

Former Speaker of the House of Representatives and a member of the APC board of trustees, Alh. Gali Umar Na’Abba, has alleged that  President Muhammadu Buhari does not consult with party members before taking decisions.

He said President Buhari has not added any value to Nigeria’s democracy since he became president.

8. DSS identifies ISIS network in Benue, Kogi and Edo states

The Department of State Service (DSS), have reportedly identified an Islamic State in West Africa (ISWA) network operating within some north-central and south-south states.

Benue, Kogi and Edo states were particullaly identified in a security report which has been submitted to President Muhammadu Buhari.

9. Herdsmen in Ekiti state to register with N5,000

Governor Ayodele Fayose has directed herdsmen in the state to register  with N5,000 to continue operating in their host community.

When he met with stakeholders during the weekend, Fayose told Muhammed Abashe, the Serikin Fulani in Ekiti, that he would be held responsible for any other herdsmen attack in the state.

10. NNPC sends 250 trucks to Lagos to quell fuel scarcity

The Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) says it has released 250 trucks of petrol to Lagos metropolis to address returning fuel shortage in the state.

This was disclosed on Sunday by Ndu Ughamadu, the corporation’s spokesman, during an interview with NAN on Sunday.
