Lassa Fever: Doctor Diagnosed on Friday Dies In Kogi

A medical doctor has died of Lassa fever in Kogi State.

Prior to the doctor’s demise, he worked with the Federal Medical Centre (FMC), Lokoja, Kogi State.

The victim, who identity han not been publicized by the hospital authorities,got infected with the disease last week.

According to a source at the FMC, the doctor died at about 6:00p.m., on Sunday.

The source revealed that the doctor “did not make it. It is very unfortunate. He did not make it. He died at about 6:00p.m. on Sunday.”

Confirming the doctor’s being diagnosed with the disease, the Chief Medical Director of FMC, Lokoja, Dr. Olatunde Alabi said the doctor was diagnosed of Lassa fever on Friday., adding that the victim’s blood sample was sent to the Federal Medical Centre, Irrua, Edo State, where it tested positive to Lassa fever.
