Five persons have been killed after Boko Haram fighters attacked Kaya Village in Madagali, Adamawa State, Northeast Nigeria.

Local emergency officials say the attackers stormed the village at about 10pm on Thursday and started shooting sporadically.

Chairman of Madagali local government council, Yusuf Mohammed confirmed the attack and said local vigilante and hunters repelled the attack, killing one of the attackers.

Muhammed made the disclosure in an interview with newsmen, saying that the incident occurred on Thursday evening, at about 10 pm. He said several people injured, while houses and other properties were destroyed during the attack.

Muhammed said many people were fleeing the area to other parts of the state and neighboring Cameroon Republic following the frequent attacks on towns and villages in the area.

He assured that normalcy had been restored in the area.

“Five persons killed in midnight attack in Kaya Village a suburb of Gulak town by suspected Boko Haram members.

“Three days ago , three persons were also killed in another attack in Pallam village.” Muhammed said.
