EFCC Arraigns Justice Yinusa Over Alleged Corrupt Practices

The Economic and Financial Crime Commission (EFCC), has today, Wednesday, arraigned a Federal High Court Judge, Justice Yinusa Muhammad over corruption allegation.

Standing trial along with Yinusa is one Esther Agbo, a staff of Rickey Tarfa chambers on a five-count charge.

In the case presided over by Justice S. O Solebo, Justice Yinusa is accused of having received several sums of money from senior lawyers, Joseph Nwobike and Rickey Tarfa to pervert the course of justice.

The EFCC claimed that Yinusa had received N1.5m from Joseph Nwobike to give a favorable ruling in a case before him.

The judge was also accused of collecting another N750,000 on 5 March, 2015, from Nwobike in order to give a decision in his favour.

On her own part, Agbo, a staff of Rickey Tarfa law firm, was alleged of offering Yinusa N1.5m to influence a trial before the justice.

However, Justice Yinusa and Esther Agbo pleaded not guilty to the charges.

Meanwhile, as at the time this news report, Yinusa’s counsel team were still arguing their bail application.
