Barcelona’s new signing, Philippe Coutinho has been ruled out for up to three weeks with a thigh injury which will make him unable to play with his new team mates immediately.

The Spanish giants made the revelation while presenting the 25-year-old play maker after successfully completing his €160 million move move from Liverpool.

According to details released by Barcelona, Coutinho may not be able to play until the February 4 fixture against Espanyol.

He is set to miss Thursday’s Copa del Rey last-16 second-leg meeting against Celta Vigo as well as games against Real Sociedad and Real Betis in the La Liga.

The thigh injury to Coutinho was discovered in the morning when the Brazilian star underwent a medical.

Neymar’s €222m move from Barcelona to Paris Saint Germain, and Kylian Mbappe’s €180m move from Monaco, also to PSG are still ahead of Barcelona paid Liverpool to land Coutinho.
