BREAKING NEWS: 11 Persons Killed In Fresh Benue Attack

Eleven people have been killed in a fresh attack by herdsmen in the early hours of Saturday in the troubled Logo government area of Benue State.

The latest attack is coming barely a week after Fulani herdsmen attacked five communities in Guma and Logo local government areas of the state in which over 20 persons were murdered.

The latest incident, according to a source happened at Tombo village in Logo local government area of the state.

An eyewitness told our correspondent that the attackers came to Ukemberagga/ Tsewarves, Tse Toradi, all in Tombo community in Mbagber ward of Gaambe-Tiev of the council area.

Another source claimed that the attackers launched the attack about 11pm on Friday and lasted till 5am of Saturday.

Though state police command spokesman, ASP Moses Yamu said only four persons were killed.

The ugly incident was said to have occurred early hours of Saturday when the villagers were asleep.

It was gathered that the herdsmen invaded the village, destroyed houses and shot indiscriminately.

The Chief Press Secretary to the state governor, Mr Terver Akase, confirmed the report.

Meanwhile, the state Governor, Samuel Ortom said he has resolved to end the feud between him and a former governor of the state, Gabriel Suswam, in a bid to finding solution to the problem of herdsmen attacks on Benue people.

The governor said that he has decided to withdraw from all political activities pending when the attacks on Benue by Fulani herdsmen are over and normalcy return to every nook and cranny of the state.
