1. Buhari orders review of board list containing dead persons

President Buhari has ordered the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Mr. Boss Mustapha, to review the entire list of board member appointees released last Friday.

This follows the public outcry that followed the discovery of dead persons on the released list.

2. Buhari commissions new railway coaches and dry port in Kaduna

President Muhammadu Buhari on Thursday commissioned 10 additional coaches and two locomotives to the standard gauge railway in Kaduna. He had earlier commissioned the Inland Dry Port in Kakuri area of the city.

3. IPOB launches radio Biafra Hausa service

The proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) has launched  a radio service in Hausa language.

The group mentioned its maiden broadcast would be done on Saturday, January 6, by 7:00pm Nigerian time.

4. FG may allow independent marketers to sell petrol above N145/litre

The Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, Dr. Ibe Kachikwu, has hinted that the federal government may allow independent marketers to sell petrol above the current regulated pump price N145 per litre.

He dropped the hint while speaking at a Senate investigative hearing on the current fuel scarcity.

5. Fire destroys vehicles and several other properties in custom warehouse

A warehouse belonging to the Nigeria Customs Service, Federal Operations Unit, Zone A was on Thursday gutted by fire destroying several vehicles. The warehouse which was filled with seized vehicles and foreign parboiled rice was destroyed by the fire which occurred about noon.

6. Nigerian Army rescue another abducted Chibok girl

Troops of the Nigerian Army attached to the Operation Lafia Dole have rescued one of the Chibok school girls, identified as Salomi Pogu, abducted by the Boko Haram terrorists in April 2014.

The rescued girl was intercepted in Pulka, Borno state.

7. Governor Darius Ishaku’s convoy involved in fatal accident

A police intelligence officer attached to the wife of Taraba State governor, Barr. Mrs. Anna Darius Ishaku, died Thursday evening when his vehicle in the convoy of Governor Darius Ishaku had an accident along Bali Jalingo road.Two other occupants of the vehicle, a CIB police officer and a nurse were equally injured and in a critical condition.

8. Senate grills former senate president David Mark over N5.4 billion fund

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on Thursday, subjected a former President of the Senate, David Mark to a grueling investigation in connection with alleged N5.4billion cash allegedly paid to him by the Office of the former National Security Adviser, Sambo Dasuki.

9. FG denies plans to increase pump price of petrol

The federal government has in a statement issued by Idang Alibi, Director of Press Ministry of Petroleum Resources, denied that it was planning to increase the pump price of petrol to a minimum price of N180.

10. Oshoala and Salah win CAF best player awards

Nigeria’s Asisat Oshoala and Egpyt’s Mohammed Salah emerged as the best players in the female and male categories of the CAF awards which took place yesterday in Accra, Ghana.
