Liverpool seal World Record £75m Virgil Van Dijk Signing

-Liverpool have beaten Manchester City to the £75m signing of  Virgil Van Dijk.

-The amount makes Van Dijk the most expensive defender in the World.

Liverpool have beaten Manchester City to the signing of  26-year-old Virgil Van Dijk from fellow premier league team, Southampton.

The centre-back cost Liverpool a world record £75 million for a defender.

Van Dijk will officially join Liverpool on January 1 when the transfer window opens.

Mauricio Pellegrino admitted that the club tried to make the best decision for all parties involved in the transfer.

“We tried to do the best for the team,” he said this week. “The board decided to try to keep our best player at the club. This situation is a big learning curve for everybody and now we decide what is the best for the club.”

The Netherlands international passed a medical with Liverpool on Wednesday and is set to wear the number 4 jersey at Liverpool.

He is reportedly set to earn £180,000 per week at Merseyside.
