IGP, Idris Says Police Will Partner With Nigerian Students

Police to collaborate with students on security.

The Inspector General of Police, Ibrahim Idris, has disclosed that the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) would partner with Nigerian students for security of lives and property in various institutions across the country.

Idris said this on Friday when officials of the National Association of Polytechnic Students (NAPS) honoured him with Chief Peace Builder award in Abuja.

The National President of the association, Mr Adeyeye Olugbenga, who presented the award said the award was in recognition of his unrelenting efforts at promoting peace through proactive policing.

Olugbenga hailed the police for their efforts in combating cultism on campuses and tackling cattle rustling, armed robbery, kidnapping and other social vices in the country, assuring the security agents of their support to rid the country of crimes.

He added that the police should beef up security during the festive periods to enable the people have a crime-free celebrations.

Idris, in his remarks, commended the students and appealed to them to always provide useful information on suspicious people around them.

He also promised that he would intensify the fight against crime in the country, enjoining the people to develop cordial relationship with the police reiterating, “the police is your friend, especially you, the law-abiding citizens”.
