Five Awards Won By Davido

Davido who is an American-born Nigerian recording artist, David Adedeji Adeleke, better known by his stage name Davido, is a Nigerian singer, songwriter, and record producer. His 2011 single “Dami Duro” was well-received throughout Nigeria.

David Adedeji Adeleke or Davido was born on November 21, 1992, his music is not only popular in the USA, but in his motherland Nigeria as well.The singer and producer was born in Atlanta, Georgia, whose father came to the USA from Nigeria and became a business magnate. His mother was a lecturer in the local university.

Davido was doing music as a hubby until March 2011. He was a part of a group called “KB international” in the USA. But it didn’t work out as well as Davido would have liked, so he decided to proceed on his own. At that time, he felt that doing what you love and also making you money is happiness. So he started to record songs.

As of December 2014, he has received a total of 29 awards from 74 nominations.

Five Awards Davido has won:

1. The Future Africa Awards: The Future Awards Africa, are a set of awards given by The Future Project, a social enterprise communications firm affiliated to Red Africa. Davido was also Awarded the best in music (2017) in “The Future Africa Awards”.

2. Kora Awards: The KORA All Africa Music Awards are music awards given annually for musical achievement in sub-Saharan Africa, in the year 2012 Davido was awarded the “Best Newcomer Award” at the kora Awards.

3. BET Awards: The BET Awards were established in 2001 by the Black Entertainment Television network to celebrate African Americans and other American minorities in music, acting, sports, and other fields of entertainment over the past year and in the year 2014 Davido bagged the “Best International Act: Africa” in the Bet Awards

4. MOBO Awards: The MOBO Awards stands for “Music of Black Origin” and was established in 1996 by Kanya King and Andy Ruffell. The MOBO Award show is held annually in the United Kingdom.

Since its inception in 1996, the MOBO Awards has become one of Europe’s biggest and most influential music award ceremonies, celebrating excellence in black music in the UK and internationally for more than 20 years in the musical fields of hip-hop, grime, RnB, soul, reggae, jazz, gospel, and African music.

The MOBO Awards are seen as a UK equivalent to the BET Awards and Soul Train Awards.Davido this year (2017) won the Best Africa Act Award at the Mobo Awards.

5. MTV EMA: An MTV Europe Music Award is an award presented by Viacom International Media Networks to honour artists and music in pop culture and this year Davido won the “Best African Act” at the 2017 MTV EMA
