1. Fuel queues return to Lagos as oil workers begin strike today.

The lingering petrol scarcity in many parts of the country grew worse on Sunday as many filling stations were shut.

PENGASSAN had announced last week that it would embark on an indefinite strike from today (Monday) following a stalemate in the peace meeting, which the Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, Ibe Kachikwu, brokered between the union and Neconde Energy Limited.

The oil union and Neconde had been embroiled in a crisis over allegation of anti-worker practices by the firm.

2. National Assembly and Presidency disagree over $1B extra crude fund withdrawal.

Members of the National Assembly and the Presidency are set for a show down over the legality of the approval given by state governors for the withdrawal of $1b dollars from the excess crude oil account to fight insurgency.

3. Jonathan salutes President Buhari at 75

Former President Goodluck Jonathan has congratulated President Muhammadu Buhari on his 75th birthday.

He described him as a statesman who will never be forgotten in the history of Nigeria as a nation.

4. Army records more victory over Boko Haram

The Nigerian Army, over the weekend, said it captured 167 suspected Boko Haram terrorists in various operations in the North-east over the last two weeks as well as another 53 other insurgents earlier captured.

This was disclosed by the Deputy Director, Army Public Relations, and Theatre Command Spokesperson, Operation Lafiya Dole, Col. Onyema Nwachukwu, in a statement in Maiduguri.

5. Fayose says federal government planning to increase fuel price to N185 per liter

Governor Ayodele Fayose of Ekiti state, has said that the current scarcity of fuel in the country was a strategy by the Federal Government to justify the planned increment of petrol pump price from N145 to N185 per litre.

This is as contained in a statement by the governor’s special assistant on public communications and new media, Lere Olayinka.

6. 27 states get balance of Paris Club refund from FG

The federal government has released the balance of the Paris Club refund to 27 states of the federation.

The Director, Home Finance of the Federal Ministry of Finance, Mrs. Olubunmi Siyanbola, disclosed this in Abuja saturday while briefing journalists on the outcome of the Federation Account Allocation Committee (FAAC) meeting for the month of November.

7. Sultan reacts to raging hijab controversy

The Sultan of Sokoto, Dr. Mohammad Sa’ad Abubakar has reacted to the raging controversy over Hijab.

He argued that Muslims should be allowed to practise their religion as allowed in the Nigerian constitution.

8. Again, President Buhari set to jet out of Nigeria on Monday

President Muhammadu Buhari is scheduled to be in the Republic of Niger on Monday to attend the 59th Proclamation of Republic of Niger.

The president will also attend bilateral meetings before returning to Nigeria.

9. Man. City continue fine form in the English premier league

Manchester City has continued to win games for fun as they dispatched their weekend opponents, Tottenham by 4 goals to 1.

They currently sit eleven points clear at the top of the table.

10. Kaka retires from international football

Brazilian football star, Kaka, has announced his retirement from international football at the age of 35.

Kaka won several awards during his playing days including the prestigious Ballon D’Or.
