Actress Funke Adesiyan Dumps PDP For APC Few Months After Criticising Buhari

Actress Funke Adesiyan leaves PDP for APC.

The popular Nollywood actress, Funke Adesiyan, has dumped the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) for the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

The Yoruba actress, who disclosed this on her Instagram page on Sunday, also spoke about what motivated her to delve into politics.

The actress, who won the Oyo State House of Assembly primary election on the platform of the PDP in 2014, however, lost to her APC opponent, attributing the loss to disunity in PDP.

My journey into politics was borne out of my passion and desire to touch people’s lives positively. Having realised that there was little I could achieve in my private capacity, I decided to put myself in the political landscape of the country. That resolve has never changed. My mission has always been to make life easy for the man next door. While that could not be achieved on a different platform in #2015 due to factors that would not be necessary to delve into at this time; it is my joy to announce today that I am joining the #progressives with the same resolve. My commitment and loyalty to whatever or whoever I believe in is unwavering, unflagging and unflinching. I assure my people of my unalloyed commitment to a life more abundant. This can only be achieved by working side by side with individuals who are also driven by the same passion to achieve an egalitarian society. God bless Nigeria God bless Oyo State. Funke Adesiyan.

Naija News gathered that the actress’ defection to APC came after few months she condemned President Muhammadu Buhari, calling him a two-faced tyrant

However, the actress has since deleted the post but some of her followers had saved and shared a screenshot of the controversial post.

Adesiyan’s defection seems to be part of the current political re-alignment in the state.

Naija News reports that former governor of the state, Adebayo Alao Akala, who defected from Labour Party(LP) form the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in 2014, and other political bigwigs in the state such as Senator Teslim Folarin, Chief Ayodele Adigun, Ambassador Taofeek Arapaja, Honourable Segun Odebunmi, Rauf Olaniyan, Honourable Ayoola Makanjuola, Alhaji Rasaq Gbadegesin officially joined the APC last week.
