Police arrest three herdsmen in Ogun.

Three herdsmen have been arrested by the police in Ogun State over illegal possession of an AK-49 rifle and attempted murder.

The suspects were identified as Mohammed Bello, 40, Muhammed Momoh, 30 and Yisau Umoru, 18.

Naija News gathered that argument ensued between the victim, Ige Orisade and the herdsmen on his farm at Oke-Odo, Oja-Odan, after the former confronted them to know why they allowed their cattle to graze on his farm, thereby, destroying his crops.

The state Police Public Relations Officer, Abimbola Oyeyemi, said that the herdsmen attacked the victim with matchetes and fled.

Oyeyemi said “On the strength of this information, the Area Commander, Ilaro, Titus Musa, dispatched a team of policemen to the scene and the bush was thoroughly combed in conjunction with local vigilance group.

“At the end of the search, the three herdsmen were arrested.

According to him, the items recovered from the suspects are one AK-49 rifle, 49 live ammunition, 26 live cartridges and two machetes.

He said further that the state Commissioner of Police, Ahmed Iliyasu, had ordered immediate transfer of the suspects from the division to the Federal Special Anti-Robbery Squad for further investigation.

He therefore, stressed that other fleeing suspects would be apprehended.
