Nnamdi Kanu’s lawyer says FG should release IPOB members in detention.

Ifeanyi Ejiofor, counsel to fleeing leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) Nnamdi Kanu, has called on the Federal Government to pardon the IPOB members and other Igbo youths held in various prisons in the South-East.

In a letter to the Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami, Ejiofor said that the youths were arrested for exercising their rights of self determination as eshrined in the constitution.

According to him, the IPOB youths were arrested for false and fabricated allegations.

The counsel said: “Hundreds of innocent and defenseless IPOB members who are mostly youths languishing in different prisons in the South East states and Kuje Prison in Abuja which was based on phantom, frivolous and cooked-up allegations.”

Ejiofor noted that one of the alleged IPOB members, Bright Chimezie, has been in custody of the Department of State Service, DSS, without trial.
