1. JAMB remitts N7.8b to federal government from 2016 UTME

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) on Tuesday, disclosed it remitted N7.8 billion to Federal Government coffers from 2016 University and Tertiary Matriculation Examinations (UTME).

This was disclosed by the board’s Registrar, Prof. Is-haq Oloyede, when a delegation from National Officers Council of Colleges of Education Academic Staff Union (COEASU) paid a visit to the board in Abuja.

2. Go And Face Your CCT Trial, Appeal Court Orders Saraki

The Court of Appeal sitting in Abuja, has ordered Senate President, Bukola Saraki to face three charges at the Code of Conduct Tribunal (CCT).

Saraki is standing trial for false declaration of his assets when he was governor of Kwara state.

3. Lagos-Ibadan rail line to be completed December 2018, says Amaechi

The Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, has said that the Lagos-Ibadan standard gauge rail line would be completed in December 2018 and set for commissioning in Jan 2019.

Amaechi, further said that the Jibowu and Costain bridges in Lagos would be demolished during the process, adding that the ministry had gotten the right of way.

4. Jonathan wasted $65b excess crude fund – Amaechi

Rotimi Amaechi has alleged that a total of $65bn left in the Excess Crude Account by ex-President Olusegun Obansajo was squandered by his successor, Goodluck Jonathan.

According to him, that was part of the reasons he left PDP for the APC.

5. Northern region not afraid of restructuring- Masari

The Katsina state governor, Alh. Bello Masari, has sated that the region is not poor neither are they afraid of restructuring.

Masari, made the statement in his address during the retreat of northern senators forum in Katsina on Tuesday, advising the north not to be afraid of restructuring.

6. Turkey wants East Jerusalem recognized as Palestinian capital

Turkey has on Wednesday, called on other nations of the world to recognise East Jerusalem as the capital of a Palestinian state.

He stated this in response to a U.S. decision to recognise Jerusalem as Israel’s capital.

7. El-Rufai signs N216b Kaduna bill into law

Elrufai signs 2018 Kaduna budget into law.

Governor Nasir El-Rufai has said that the 2018 budget of the state will focus on the social sector aimed at addressing people related issues.

8. Oba-in-Council is unknown to the Oyo State Chieftaincy Laws – Olubadan

The Olubadan of Ibadan land, Saliu Adetunji, has reacted to the threat of 21 new Ibadan kings to recommend him for removal.

He described their position as an affront to the people of Ibadan and the height of illegality.

9. 2019: Buhari may pick Tinubu as vice president

There are indications that the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) may present President Muhammadu Buhari-Asiwaju Bola Tinubu ticket for the 2019 election.

Buhari is however yet to officially disclose his intention for the 2019 elections.

10. FIFA Sanctions Nigeria, Awards Super Eagles World Cup Match To Algeria

World football ruling body, FIFA, has rejected Nigeria’s defence on the use of an ineligible player during the 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifier against Algeria in Constantine on Friday, 10th November 2017, thus awarding the match to Algeria.

However, the sanction does not in any way hurt Nigeria’s qualification for the 2018 FIFA World Cup finals, as the Super Eagles had picked the ticket from Group B ahead of the clash in Constantine.
