NDLEA Intercepts Truck Conveying Weed Worth N70.7m
NDLEA intercepts cannabis worth N70.7m in Edo.
The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) Edo State Command has intercepted a truck of dried weeds worth N70.7 million suspected to be cannabis sativa hidden in building materials.
The truck was seized on its way to Abi in Delta State from Akure, Ondo State.
The agency also arrested two suspects, Monday Amusoga, 39 and Omebu Kingsley, 30, both from from Ndokwa West Local Council of Delta State.
The State Commander, Mr. Wakawa Buba said the drug packed in 409 bags with a total weight of 7,073 kg was concealed in a consignment of building materials in a truck with Ondo Registration Number XB 625 WEN.
“This is yet another clever trick employed by drug traffickers. The cannabis was neatly concealed amidst building materials but we were able to detect it based on intelligence report,” he said.
Buba added that the command would ensure that the suspects were arraigned, adding that all illegal drug syndicates would be countered.
