Nigerians march for universal health coverage in Abuja

Health based Non-Governmental Organisations, advocates and health workers, have today, Tuesday, marched in Abuja,  the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

The demonstrators are advocating for complete access to health care in Nigeria.

The march which kick started at the Unity Fountain along Shehu Shagari Way, Maitama, through Adetokunbo Ademola Roadhas been scheduled to end at the Eagle Square, Abuja.

One of the promoters of the event and founding partner of Health Systems Consult Ltd,  Dr. Nkata Chuku, said the demonstration was to mark the 5th anniversary of declaration of December 12 as Universal Health Coverage Day by the United Nations.

Dr. Chuku noted that the universal health coverage status of Nigeria would be reviewed as part of the activities marking the day.

Security agencies were on ground to provide them security while the Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC) handled the traffic.
