Man allegedly impregnates 10-year-old daughter

A man, Kenneth Abuya, was on Tuesday arraigned before an Ikeja Chief Magistrates’ Court for allegedly impregnating his 10-year-old daughter.

Naija News gathered that Abuya, a resident of Idimu Road, Egbeda, Lagos, is facing trial on a count charge of defilement.

‎‎The prosecutor, Mr Simeon Imhonwa, said that the accused defiled the minor and usually had sex with her at his residence.

“The accused forcefully had carnal knowledge of his child on Nov. 29 at his residence and threatened to kill her if she would tell anyone about the crime.

“The accused had been defiling the girl before he was apprehended,” he said.

Imhonwa added that the victim’s mother informed the police after her daughter reported the matter to her.

He said the offence contravened Section 137 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State 2015.

However, ‎the accused pleaded not guilty to the charge.

The Chief Magistrate, Mrs B.O. Osunsanmi, therefore granted the accused N500,000 bail with two sureties in like sum.

She said the sureties must be property owners in Lagos State and should have evidence of tax payment to the state government and adjourned the case till Feb. 2, 2018 for further hearing.
