-The warning was handed down by the state police commissioner as he assured residents of peaceful Christmas celebrations.

Police assure Enugu residents of crime free yuletide.

The Enugu State Police Command said on Monday that it had put measures in place to ensure crime-free Christmas celebration in the state.

This was disclosed by the Enugu state Commissioner of Police, Mr Mohammed Danmallam, who gave assurances of a crime free celebration in the state.

He disclosed various security measures have been put in place to check mate the activities of criminally minded individuals who might want to take advantage of the Christmas and end of year celebrations to perpetrate evil.

He said that the command was effectively partnering with members of the public and sister security agencies in the state to ensure a hitch-free yuletide.

Danmallam said that various “overt and covert measures’’ had been put in place to ensure effective policing in the state during this yuletide.”

“There is a need for all hands to be on deck for a hitch-free yuletide in Enugu State,’’ the commissioner said.

“Officers and men should desist from any act of incivility to members of the public.

“We have zero tolerance for any form of misconduct by officers and men of the command,’’ the commissioner said.

He highlighted that his men would collaborate with other security agencies to maintain peace in the state, and urged residents to report any act of misconduct by his men.
