Damishi Sango, the state chairman of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), in Plateau has reportedly been kidnapped alongside his son.

Sango, and his entire entourage were said to be on their way to Abuja ahead of the PDP’s December 9 national convention.

The PDP chieftain, along with four others were kidnapped in Jere, along the Kaduna/Abuja expressway according to a report by Channels Television.

The identity of other victims who were abducted has been disclosed as Emmanuel Mangnin, another chieftain of the PDP, the chairman’s driver and one other person.

Publicity Secretary of the PDP in Plateau, John Akans, confirmed the kidnap, further revealing the five were kidnapped while they were in transit from Jos to Abuja in preparation for the party’s national convention.

The state Police Public Relations Officer, Tyopev Mathias, also confirmed the incident and gave assurances that the victims will soon be set free.

The kidnapped Damishi Sango served as a minister during the administration of former president Olusegun Obasanjo.
