Will Jonathan Contest APC Presidential Primary? What The Ruling Party's Constitution Says

-Bukola Saraki declares Jonathan was not prepared for leadership when he became Nigeria’s president.

-He stated this in his speech at the launch of a book which outlines Jonathan’s time in power as Nigeria’s president.

Jonathan was not desperate for power.

Senate President, Bukola Saraki has said that former President Goodluck Jonathan rode on the wings of luck and circumstances to emerge Nigeria’s president when he did.

Saraki made the disclosure Thursday in Abuja while speaking at the unveiling of a book titled ‘On a Platter of Gold’ written by the national publicity secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Mallam Bolaji Abdullahi.

In the words of Saraki at the event, “a country produces the kind of leadership it gets’’.

“I think it is us Nigerians, that produce the kind of leaders we get; no matter what you say about Jonathan, I don’t think he was someone who was desperate for power.”

He added that Jonathan was made president by either a stroke of  “misfortune or fortune” and was not prepared for the responsibilities of leadership.

Saraki further chided Nigerians for choosing to ignore the right things to do when clearly, they know it is right.

The book outlined the intrigues and intricacies that played out during Jonathan’s administration which eventually climaxed in his loss of power in the 2015 presidential election.
