BREAKING: Ex-Finance Minister, Kemi Adeosun Cleared Of NYSC Certificate Scandal

-Ikoyi whistle blower’s N421m commission ready for payment.

-Adeosun however said all legal and tax issues must be cleared before payment is effected.

FG will only pay one whistle blower for recovery of Ikoyi funds.

Nigeria’s minister of finance, Kemi Adeosun has disclosed that the federal government will pay the sum of  N421,330,595 to only one individual identified for providing information that led to the recovery of alleged stolen funds hidden in a flat at Osborne Towers, Ikoyi, Lagos.

According to the federal government’s whistle blower policy, informants in such cases are eligible to receive between 2.5% and 5% of any recovered money.

Several persons have so far laid claims to providing information that led to the recovery of the huge Ikoyi fund.

However, in her reaction to the several people laying claims to the expected commission, Adeosun has revealed the government will only pay the informant that signed the agreement that led to the recovery of the stashed cash.

Speaking with state house correspondents after the federal executive council (FEC) meeting on Wednesday, Adeosun disclosed N421,330,595 will be paid to the legitimate informant, adding that “it is ready for payment”.

“The only condition necessary is that the money will be paid to the whistle blower who signed the agreement. Not to any company.” She said.

“If we get the court judgement, we have to wait for three months to ensure that there are no encumbrances. We also [have to] make sure that all applicable taxes are paid ahead.

“We [will] get in touch with the state government where the person is domiciled. We [will] pay the tax directly to the state and issue the tax receipt. So we built in these procedures to protect the whistleblower.”
