Why police have found it difficult to remand Maryam Sanda for killing ex-PDP chairman’s son

Authorities of the Nigeria Police through the FCT police command have given reasons why it will be difficult to remand Maryam Sanda for the alleged murder of Bilyaminu Bello, son of a former chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), even after securing a court order for the purpose.

Speaking on the case, the FCT police public relations officer, DSP Anjuguri Manzah, said the inability of the command to detain her as ordered by a court of law is because of her six-month-old baby.

President Muhammadu Buhari has given reasons for the slow pace of governance in Nigeria, since he assumed office in 2015.

FG to produce 7m tonnes of rice in 2018

The Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed says the Federal Government targets 7 million tonnes of rice production in 2018.

Mohammed, who made this disclosure at a media briefing on Wednesday in Abuja, said rice demand in the country as at 2015 was 6.3 million tonnes, adding that importation of rice dropped from 644,131 tonnes in 2015 to about 21,000 tonnes in 2017 due to the achievement of the administration in local rice production.

Former Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Anyim Pius Anyim, arrested by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), has been released.
