Driver dies after running into moving truck in Ilorin

A driver, staff of a commercial transport firm has died, following the collision of his vehicle with a moving truck along Ogbo-Ilo-Eiyekorin-Ilorin Road.

The fatal accident reported to happened about 5.15am on Wednesday.

The driver, whose name is yet to be known, was driving from Eiyekorin Roundabout along Airport Road in Ilorin, when he unexpectedly crashed his car into the moving truck opposite TYK filling station, Punch reports.

The driver was reported to have died on the spot.

The circumstances causing the vehicle to swerve off its lane is still unknow, however, eye witnesses revealed that the accident was due to the failure of the car’s brakes.

Confirming the accident and death, the Kwara State Sector Commander, Federal Road Safety Commission, Mr. Sunday Maku, blamed the accident on reckless driving.

He described the vehicle saying it was a light blue car with plate number, DAF 65 CF.

Among the passengers of the vehicle, one died while another was injured, Maku said.

According to him, “The corpse of the dead victim has been taken away by his relatives.”
