NYSC Orientation Camp: Preliminary activities commence in Sokoto

NYSC Orientation begins in Sokoto.

The National Youth Service Corp (NYSC) 2017 orientation camp has begun today 21st November 2017, with 2017 batch B stream 1 corps members resuming at the orientation camps across the country, to begin their service year.

Sokoto state has begun to receive prospective corps members deployed to the state, with the Wamakko Orientation camp.

The NYSC Coordinator in the state, Alhaji Musa Abubakar,  today, Tuesday, said 2,400 corps members were deployed to the state.

Speaking in Sokoto, the NYSC coordinator said registration and other preliminary activities for the corps members had began at Wamakko Orientation camp, adding that the governor, Aminu Tambuwal would declare the orientation open on Thursday.

Abubakar said that as is the practice, the physical, moral and educative activities have already been lined up for the prospective corps members.

Speaking on the benefit of the orientation exercise, the State Coordinator said the programmed would prepare the prospective corps members for the challenges ahead, in line with government’s intention to instill moral discipline and foster unity along ethnic and religious lines.

He appealed to the government of the state and other organisations accepting corps members for their primary assignments to enhance the reception and accommodation of the members as well as their interaction with them.

According to Abubakar, NYSC members would be in the state to learn and understand cultural values as well as have knowledge of environment different from theirs, so as to instill in them a sense of patriotism toward national development.
