Heavily Armed Security Agents 'Deployed' To Emir Sanusi’s Palace

The Emir of Kano, Malam Muhammad Sanusi II, has lamented the shocking rate of domestic violence in Northern Nigeria, particularly against women.

The Emir expressed his worry today Friday during the opening of the 32nd National Conference of the Federation of Muslim Women’s Associations of Nigeria (FOMWAN) in Kano.

Sanusi disapproved the way some individuals have begun twisting messages in the Holy Book to discover a suitable excuse for some of the violent acts perpetrated against women.

He recounted one of the many instances which occured barely two weeks back, when a  man battered his wife to death.

Consequently, Sanusi stated the need for collective efforst of the different relevant authorities, including NGOs, to combat violence and other social vices affecting women and children.
